Flexible working... ... describes all working practices which fall outside the „traditional” models of work ... enables performing tasks which could not be done in a „traditional” enterprise (even by means of teleworking) Encompasses e-working or teleworking FW TW m-working

  4. What is“Flexible Working”? Flexible working... ... means being able to co-operate with suppliers, clients, and employees – independently of time and location in its „e” or „m” form... ... is enabled by the state-of-the-art telecommunications and IT solutions, properly applied and used

In the last 3 years the number of teleworkers in Western Europe has grown more then30% yearly SIBIS survey 2002 (EU): - home-based teleworkers –7% - mobile workers – 4% - telecooperation- 38% There are ca. 21 million teleworkers in the EU (13% of the total workforce) Full-time home-based teleworking (5 days a week) is an exception rather than a rule Statistics...

FlexWork project Demonstrating and promoting the take-up of new ways of FLEXible WORKing among outlying regions and SMEs • Part of IST (Information Society Technologies) programme within 5FP of the EU • FlexWork is supported by the European Commission and aims at assisting: • SME(esp. in rural areas) – to benefit from usingflexible working • Business advisor organisations (i.e. chambers of commerce, development agencies, etc.) – to support SME sector in implementation and using FW techniques
