  2. Job VS. CAREER ??? What is a job? A job is something you do for a paycheck. What is a career? A succession of related jobs you do as your life work and passion.

  3. What are some fashion related careers? • In the fashion industry there are careers working in almost every department that you might find in any traditional business. Accountants, Sales, Marketing, Research, Public Relations, Advertising and so on. • However, the overall industry is broken down into three main categories and the rest of the jobs as seen above, fall within some or all of them

  4. 3 main areas of the fashion industry Merchandising Promoting and selling new fashions Textiles Deals with fibers, yarns, dyes, finishes and methods of fabric production. Production The designing and making of garments

  5. The textile industry Careers in the field: • Textile designing • Manufacturing • Engineers • Converters • Lab techs • Research and development • Marketing • Administration • Technology • And more!!!

  6. Apparel production Careers in the field: • Fashion design • Production • Engineering • Management • Marketing • Technology • Patternmaking • And so many more!!! The design process:

  7. Fashion merchandising Careers in the field: • Promotion • Merchandise managers • Buyers • Sales • Stock • Market research • Fashion coordinators/stylists • Display directors • Illustrators • Writers • Models • Photographers • And almost anything else an average business would have!!!
