  2. Categories Discussed • 1) Find, Friend and Follow, • 2) Personal Branding, Coming up with an Avatar, • 3) Contributing, Creating, • 4) Person to Person Networking • 5) Collaboration.

  3. Reflection • I learned a lot from listening to this podcast, and have already recommended friends in the faculty to give it a listen. I currently use Twitter, Facebook, and have tried Google Plus but am no expert. I enjoyed how Jeff talked about the benefits of building your PLN and different strategies and technologies to use. I consider myself to be a beginner with these websites still, so this podcast was very educational and specific to my learning needs as a future educator.

  4. Twitter • I used Twitter for education purposes prior to listening to this podcast, but I wasn’t very active on twitter because I couldn’t figure out who to follow and where to gather useful resources and information. Jeff shared some good information during this podcast that will help me to learn as much as I can through following the right pages/people.

  5. Facebook • It is discussed how Facebook must remain strictly professional in the teaching world. I fully understand why and I have actually created a professional Facebook that is completely separate than my personal Facebook. Facebook is a great tool for communicating with other teachers as well, and sharing resources.

  6. Google Plus • I have no experience with google plus but I really do plan to start a page and become aware of the benefits it can bring to me. I find it may be hard to manage several accounts on different websites on regular basis, so I will do a trial and see how it works for me along with the other PLN websites discussed in the podcast.

  7. LinkedIn • I have never even thought of creating a LinkedIn account because of all the other resources out there, but after the podcast I decided to give it a try. Jeff explained how important it is to build your PLN and I realized after listening to this podcast that there are numerous resources and websites out there that can be used according to your learning needs as an educator.

  8. Conclusion • The main theme I gathered from listening to this podcast is how essential it is to learn from others in your field with more experience. There are so many ways to get resources and find help from other professionals in your field, and Jeff mentioned just a few websites and methods of attaining these. I hope to build an advanced PLN network within the next few years, because as a starting teacher it will benefit my career so much by learning second hand knowledge from more experiences teachers. I also look forward to sharing resources online, because the time spent finding resources can be minimized if a strong PLN is accessible.
