Update from October Stakeholder’s Meeting • Carousel on the District Priorities • Updated and finalized the District Improvement Plan • Added writing goals as recommended • SMART Goal 3.18: The school district will increase the percentage of high school students who meet or exceed on the Georgia High School Writing Test from 88.1% to 89.6% in 2013. • SMART Goal 3.19: The school district will increase the percentage of grade 8 students who meet or exceed on the Georgia Writing Test from 83.1% to 84.6% in 2013. • SMART Goal 3.20: The school district will increase the percentage of grade 5 students who meet or exceed on the Georgia Writing Test from 80% to 81.5% in 2013.

  6. Strategic Plan What is a Strategic Plan? Strategic planning is an organization’s process of defining its direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this direction. A Strategic Plan is a document that articulates where an organization is going over the next 5 years through long term goals. Key Components: Mission, Vision, Beliefs, Goals & Strategies How is this different than our District Improvement Plan? Our district improvement plan is an annual plan, that aligns with the Strategic Plan, and provides our district with more specific short term goals that are evaluated from year to year.

Strategic Plan: Goal 1 • Goal 1: As a result of a rigorous K-12 program all students will graduate from high school prepared to be productive citizens in the 21st century. • Implement and expand non-traditional supports for student engagement and graduation • Implement a shared K-12 focus on all students’ graduation from high school • Expand the use of research based instructional interventions, K-12, to ensure student engagement and learning for all students • Provide job-embedded professional learning

Strategic Plan: Goal 2 • Goal 2: All students will meet or exceed academic expectations. • Expand efforts to recruit, induct, and retain high quality teachers • Build capacity to develop strong educational leaders • Strengthen the use of best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment • Plan and support learning for students in critical subgroups and those at risk for failure • Provide job-embedded professional learning

  11. Strategic Plan: Goal 3 • Goal 3: All students will attend school in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment. • Increase student and staff attendance. • Enhance and maintain positive school cultures. • Provide job-embedded professional learning.

Strategic Plan: Goal 4 • Goal 4: All stakeholders will share the responsibility of preparing students to be lifelong learners and contributing members of the community. • Expand the school district’s focus on public relations • Increase collaboration with external agencies • Expand the school district’s support of family involvement • Expand supportive relationships with businesses and civic organizations • Provide job-embedded professional learning

Strategic Plan: Goal 5 • Goal 5: School district processes and procedures will support the local school improvement efforts. • Enhance school district support for schools in continuous improvement planning • Increase the use of technology to support district and school goals • Continue allocation of resources to support district and school functions • Improve intra-district communication

Parent Survey Summary Areas of Strength • The school’s leadership implements a continuous improvement process that provides clear direction for improving conditions that support student learning.
