Guidance Curriculum • Senior Small Group Meetings • Taking place during Senior English classes beginning the week of Sept 16th • Individual Meetings • Throughout September and October • All seniors have been scheduled for their first meeting • Students are responsible for scheduling additional meetings with their counselor • Workshops • After school opportunities to work on essays, interview skills, resumes, and applications starting Sept 25th • Check email and announcements for details

  5. Now what? • Final phases of researching, touring, and interviewing for Nov apps • Finalizing college list for Nov apps • Standardized testing • SAT: Oct 5, Nov 2 • ACT: Sept 21, Oct 26 • Student is responsible for sending scores to colleges • Most importantly, take a deep breath.

Applications • Apply through the Common App or directly through a college’s website • Early vs. Regular Decision • Notify counselors & teachers by Sept 30 of early intentions • Teacher recommendations • Ask early, ask NOW! • Students are responsible for managing this piece directly with teachers • Follow directions and pay attention to deadlines • And most importantly, tell your student to take a deep breath.

  7. Guidance’s Role • Sending transcripts to those schools listed in Naviance • End of Junior Year, 1st Term, 1st Semester, and Final Transcript • Look over transcript that already went home • Secondary School Report & School Profile • School Letter of Recommendation • We need input! • Student info in Naviance • Parent/Guardian Input Form

Utilizing Naviance • College data available for viewing • Documents library feature • Scholarship lists and information • College visit sign-up for students • Students must keep their college lists up-to-date and in sync with the Common App! • Transcripts will only be sent to those schools listed in Naviance
