  1. TtK Dec 2, 2013 • Persuasion & propaganda techniques: are methods used to convince an audience to choose or agree with a proposed product or idea. Examples include bandwagon, hero appeal, or sensationalism • Bandwagon- “everyone is doing it, so you should, too” Technique used to get people to “jump on the bandwagon” and to think/do/act/or look a certain way –very much like peer pressure. • Testimonial – A technique used when important or famous people endorse a product or an idea. The message trying to be sent is if a famous person uses it and believes in the product, then it must be a good idea. • Transfer – A technique using symbols, quotes, or images of famous people to convey a message. The symbols will “transfer” the good feeling people have about the product to themselves. • Repetition – based on the idea if people here something repeated over and over again, they will believe it or remembering the product.

  2. Emotional Words- Words that leave us with positive feelings are used to describe a product, person, or idea. • Plain Folk – a technique using ordinary people to gain the trust of the audience.

  3. Using the propaganda technique of bandwagon or testimonial, write a paragraph persuading your peers to purchase a certain brand of clothing. Warm-up December 2, 2013
