  1. Saw 1 9 Frame Analysis.

  2. Institutional information. Lions Gate shows the film will have a fairly large budget. Black background gives connotations of dark and loneliness. Dark suggests danger.

  3. The animation suggests that maybe it shouldn’t be taken too seriously. Twisted pictures suggests that the film will be considered ‘twisted’ or ‘warped’ giving connotations that perhaps the film is not for the faint hearted.

  4. Darkness again suggests that the film will be dark. The blue text gives connotations of water. The fact that the writing is becoming distorted also may suggest a theme within the film.

  5. Dark setting, some light swings back and fourth, establishing there is someone/something there. Sounds of water splashing, can see some water, very dark, only some light to suggest setting.

  6. Young man in a bath- he was previously drowning. Suggest that audience will be late teens/earl 20’s+ Picture is very dark, again suggesting danger, loneliness, and tension.

  7. Man falls out of bath and is then staggering around calling out for help. He is questioning if he is by himself. – this confirms the lonely feeling from the previous dark scenes. Man looks wounded- struggling around on the floor. Still little light, can only just about see him and hismovements.

  8. Can hear another voice, low and husky. but cannot see where she is, man eventually stands up and starts a conversation to see where this unknown woman is. Setting looks like a bathroom/public toilet. Asking questions like “what’s going on” “Where are you” etc.

  9. A sudden flash of light and the main lights are on so you can see the man is dripping wet and is blinded by the sudden burst of light.

  10. Audience sees all the lights come on but no clue to who has turned them one yet. Creating obvious tension with the audience as well as the character
