  2. Let’s Review! How many different ways can 5 people stand for a picture?

  3. Combination An arrangement, or listing, of objects in which order is NOT important

  4. Permutation OR Combination? How many ways can 1st and 2nd chair positions be awarded in Band? How many different 2 digit passwords can be created? How many ways can you pick 3 kittens from a litter of 7?

  5. Permutation OR Combination? How many different groups of 24 contestants can remain on American Idol? How many ways can you make a 2 topping pizza if you have 8 different toppings? How many ways can 6 photos be arranged on a fireplace mantel?

  6. Combination EX: Mr. Rius is making a salad. He has tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, and radishes. He decides to add two of the possible toppings. How many combos? TG = GT etc.

  7. You can list them! Just don’t forget to cross out any that are the same!

  8. You can make some sort of diagram! How many pairs can you make with 4 people?

  9. OR! Find the regular permutation and then divide by the number of ways the smaller set can be arranged. # ways to choose # ways to arrange

  10. EX How many ways can you pick 2 stickers from a package of 7?

  11. Example! In how many ways can 3 out of 10 students be chosen to present their projects at a craft fair?

  12. EX Out of the following students. Three will be chosen for a committee. Find the probability they will be Placido, Maddie, Akira. Leon Placido Maddie Adrahan Matt Akira

  13. Example! Of 12 websites, how many ways can you choose to visit 6?
