  3. WHY? MSSM is disaffiliating from NYU and will become an independent school

  4. WHAT IS MIDDLE STATES? The regional body that grants institutional accreditation to colleges and universities Required for Title IV funding

  5. HOW AND WHEN? Self-Study and Site Visits will lead to a Commission vote to accredit MSSM. Community Input: January 2010 BOT approval: February 2010 Co-Chair visit: March 2010 Site Team Visit: July 2010 Commission Vote: November 2010

FACULTY EFFECTIVENESS AND SUPPORT WORKGROUP Faculty Development Faculty development for educators is a high priority Multiple institutional bodies exist that support teaching faculty development Need to have consistent evaluation metrics to demonstrate effectiveness Appointments and Promotions Process

FACULTY EFFECTIVENESS AND SUPPORT WORKGROUP Faculty Development Appointments and Promotions Process Clinician and/or Educator track has succeeded in establishing greater parity and increasing number of professors Additional/alternative productivity measures should be considered Need to verify that contributions by both clinicians and scientists are considered
