Subordination • reflects a lesser importance of a dependent clause • used in complex sentences Ex: -”When I’m good, I’m very, very good, but when I’m bad, I’m better.” -Mae West, I’m No Angel

Cumulative (Loose) Sentence • presents ideas in the order of subject-verb-object Ex: - I went to the store to buy some milk, to select the perfect brand, to bring it home and pour it onto a glass, and compliment it with soft, chewy cookies.
Periodic Sentence • a complex sentence in which the main clause comes last and is preceded by the subordinate clause Ex: -Considering the attentiveness, friendliness and speed of service, this waiter will definitely be getting a good trip. -Spring, with new buds popping out, flowers blooming, and mild temperatures, is my favorite season.
