(Art. 1 Law 18.902) SISS regulates and monitors health companies and controls liquid industrial waste • Punitive Authority: • Industrial establishments: up to 1,000 UTA and possible closure in serious cases. • Treatment Plants: Up to 50 UTA quality of service and up to 10,000 UTA (Development Plans). Suspension of recovery. • Art. 64 of Law on Foundations (Ley de Bases)

Fiscalización de Riles y PTAS Sanction Procedure • - 121 cases closed and fined by SISS for a total of 2,035 UTA (MM$ 900) • - 91 cases which are in process and which correspond to facilities that have been given a deadline to appeal the sanctions imposed by SISS. • 34 cases where the respective COREMAS have had to apply sanctions and where the total amount required amounts to 481 UTA (MM$ 213) • 76 cases where the breaches were not punished, but which are considered as aggravating circumstances in the future. • 68 cases acquitted. • 7 cases referred to the Directorate General of Maritime Territory and Merchant Navy (Dirección General del Territorio Marítimo y Marina Mercante, DIRECTEMAR).

  12. Treatment of waste water in Chile Fiscalización de Riles y PTAS In 2000, we had 91 PTAS operating in the country, serving 2.7 million inhabitants with 20% coverage. In December 2008, it increased to 257 Treatment Plants, reaching 11,9 million inhabitants, achieving 83 % coverage. In almost eight years, 166 Treatment Plants have been constructed, increasing the coverage to 63 points. Treatment of waste water is still lacking for 2,5 people in the country. Compliance results D.S. 90/00 Fiscalización de Riles y PTAS During the period of validity of the rule, the percentage of compliance of the total population with services has been an average of 94.5%. There have been months in which compliance has reached almost 99% of the population receiving treatment. 13-11-2014 Página 16
