  2. Agenda • Finish reading “The Demon Lover.” • Take easy pop quiz on the reading. • Complete literary terms T-Chart. • Analyze story through the lens of Historical Criticism.

  3. “The Demon Lover” Pop Quiz • Answer the following questions on a separate sheet of paper. • Why does Mrs. Drover’s house appear strange to her? • Why is she mystified when she sees a letter addressed to her on the hall table? • What is the letter about? • How does she feel about receiving the letter? • What happens after she gets into the taxi?

  4. “Demon Lover” Pop Quiz Answers • Mrs. Drover hasn’t been there for a long time. • The caretaker was away, and the house was closed up, so no one could have dropped off a letter. • The writer of the letter is a man Mrs. Dover’s fiancé. The letter reminds her of a promise she made to him.

  5. Answers 4. She is frightened. The letter sounds threatening and possibly supernatural. 5. She begins screaming because the taxi driver is the man who wrote the letter. She is trapped with him in the taxi.
