WI 3064 ISSUE: Accuracy/ Repeatability Addressing multiple Error Sources 3064 Alternative Gauging of API Connections (TG-OCTG/RG-TGTC) Describes philosophy embodied in migration from hardened gauges to thread diameter gauge system. Upon successful ballot and comment resolution, the RG-TGTC will be directed to develop detailed changes to API 5B for future letter ballot. Issues • Gaging (accuracy/repeatability)-Pitch Diameter Measurement • Thread Form (function)- Eliminate root-crest contact • Dimensional tolerances- Revised for methodology

WI 2291 BTC Leak Resistance: Makeup Options are allowed for SRXX connection makeup (refer to 4.4.1 a.1) Rejects occur when the coupling does not make the position criteria with minimum power-turns. Control of the coupling make-up shall be by one of the following methods. • By Power Turn via Torque-turn equipment, or by counting power turns. Power-turns start at a torque value equal to 5% to 10% of the target given in Table B1. The number of power turns shall equal or exceed the minimum number of power turns specified in Table B1. The acceptance position when counting turns shall be two turns below the base of the triangle to the apex of the triangle. If torque is observed to oscillate (often a result of eccentricities) adjustment of the definition of start of power torque upward may be required. Ensure proper alignment in makeup equipment and identify source of torque oscillation. • Makeup to within the triangle position and verify power turn requirement. Repeat power-turn verification at regular intervals. iii) Torque guided make-up, per 4.4, with the revision of determining torque via the number of power-tight turns per Table B1. Makeup torque should relate to an upper value of actual field make-up torque values. Repeat power-turn verification at regular intervals. Makeup shall be within the triangle position mark.
