  2. Student Behaviors • Be prompt • Be ready to learn when class begins. • Be prepared • Have materials with you and know your timeline due dates. • Be a polite and positive participant • Raise your hand; take your turn; listen! • Be productive • Stick to your timeline/WIPS, and always do your best. • Be a problem solver • Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate. Ask for help! That is why I am here!

  3. Show Respect • Value yourself. Be honest and ethical, and practice strong moral values. • Treat all members of the school community and all visitors with politeness and respect. • Honor the ideas and opinions of others. • Offer to help. • Be responsible with property and belongings.

  4. Responsibility for Coursework • Bring all necessary materials to class. • Know your timeline commitments, and stay on schedule. • Enter all project work into your IDEA binder log • Keep all your research and materials in your IDEA binder. • Always do your best! Your grade will depend not only on your project commitments, but also on your level of effort and positive learning attitude.

  5. Life-long Learning You can develop life-long learning traits: • By showing curiosity about the world around you. • By seeking and valuing diversity. • By persisting in seeking out new solutions. • By using your unique gifts and abilities to promote positive change. • By learning and applying technology tools to solve problems. • By honoring both successes and failures – we learn from both! • By realizing that although we do not have a choice in some things, there is one choice we always have – what kind of attitude we have.

  6. Policies • No cell phones, Walkmans, IPods, etc. in class. Bottled water is the only food/drink allowed. • Please be in your seat when the bell rings, as class begins at that time. Attendance is mandatory. Tardies and cuts mean grade point loss and disciplinary action. • Absences - If you know you will be absent, please see me ahead of time. -You can email me at home or school anytime – I will get back to you that day.

  7. Grading • Total points, graded (your grade will appear on your report card, but will not be included in your GPA, nor will it appear on your transcript. Instead, your IDEA grade will be recorded on your transcript as C (credit) or NC (no credit). • Grades will be based on: • IDEA Project and Poster Presentation • Works in Progress (WIPS) • Student Conferences • Classroom (classroom work; meeting 9th-grade IDEA objectives)

  8. My Pledge to Students • I will trust you until you give me reason to do otherwise. • I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. • I will promptly correct and offer feedback on your work. • I will work with you to meet learning goals. • I will offer extra help and whatever I can to help you be successful. • I will hold myself accountable to doing my best.
