PROVIDING A NON-SEXIST PLAY ENVIRONMENT • Discourage “boy” and “girl” games • Encourage all children to play with all toys • Allow girls to get messy, dirty as well as boys • Reward physical and skill development in both • Hang pictures, posters and wall hangings of both traditional and non-traditional roles • Allow and encourage all children to express emotions. Let girls be assertive and boy cry • Be careful not to reinforce appearance, dress and styles • Be careful about casting parts for dramas, costumes, paintings, puppet games, roles playing, leadership, etc.
