  1. ABT LHC upgrades in the 2013 Long ShutdownElectronics & Controls

  2. Disclaimer • Available resources (P+M) not taken into account • No priority in the list • Assumption of a full re-commissioning before restart (without & with beam)

  3. All • Software maintenance • SIEMENS (PLC & Supervision) • Embedded software • Application (JAVA) • Migration to FESA 3 • Migration to LINUX (CPU upgrade)

  4. MKI • Increase remote diagnostic (Shot-by-shot, IPOC…) • Redesign FIB to reject CIBO noise • Deploy new ACOND algorithm • Implement thermal protection in RCPS (discharge resistor) • Implement over-voltage interlock in RCPS • Validate RCPS surveillance

  5. MKI (cont.) • Implement thermal measurement on RCPS capacitors • Optimise TMR signal acquisitions (reduce cable losses…)

  6. LBDS • Recalibration of major components (power supplies, dividers, BEA’s…) • Optimisation of PROFIBUS frame (increase data transmission capabilities) • Implement low-level PLC diagnostic functionalities • Deploy TSU-V3 (hardware, firmware + interface board) • Add PTU output currents to MKD generator IPOC

  7. LBDS (cont.) • Install & commission Electronics & Controls for additional MKB generators • Implement GTO switch turn-on delay compensation (variable digital delay) for operation at fixed triggering voltage • Upgrade PTC firmware for PTM triggering current surveillance (…if less discrepancy between trigger transformer)

  8. LBDS (cont.) • Upgrade IPOC systems triggering logic • Maintain PTU’s (power supplies, capacitor, dust…) • Reduce triggering cable inductance (tri-axial to coxial) • Connect IPOC results to low level interlock logic (MKD Rogowski& Pearson, MKD generators, TSU) • Deploy local console in MKB areas

  9. MKQAc • Upgrade AC dipole electrical distribution • Integrate AC dipole control within MKQA control • Adapt AC dipole functionality (longer flat-top)

  10. TCDQ • Separate electrical distribution from LBDS • Split PRS & MDC in 2 different PLC’s • Replace LVDT with a second potentiometer • Consolidate operational performances for small displacements • Tolerance & resolution • Compensation of mechanical clearances • Positioning PID (torque & brake control)
