  13. VoIP starting costs has to be calculated accurately between pure VoIP solution or mixed solutions mixed solutions means trational CRM connected to IP-network must keep in mind that it is possible to mix pure VoIP and traditional CRM cost savings in telephone/call costs cost savings in hired copper wires connection to public telephone network by Eunet Finland (municipalities) customers can choose telephone operator from three different operators

  14. VoIP enables modern telephone and virtual switchboard services modern conferencing and presence services connectivity => software / harware inside region network cost per minute is 0 snt/min households get telephone service through fiber connection. No copper wires needed..

  15. How we use VoIP? IP-phone; Ethernet / WLAN Soft phones ATA (Analog Telephone Adaptor) Traditional CRM and phones GSM/WLAN phones and 3G? Videoconferencing P2P

  16. VoIP = problems? • offer studing • disambling old connection (data/voice) • connecting existing CRM systems to VoIP • backup connections • maintance • telephone traffic

  17. VoIP = problems? • VoIP is as good as the data-network => echoing, calls not routed right, security • networks inside buildings / active equipment • cost savings hard to point, still possible

  18. Region network now and in future • harmonizing software adn harware started • roaming; eth, WLAN • video email, digital libraries, centralized autentication for different services • offers connection layer for property control and security, water suppliment control, security and surveillance services • several operators and service providors using network to offer different kind of services • fast core for varied access mode • connecting separate region networks together

  19. Competition • xDSL offering better • more telephone operators and services • DigiTV and VoD pilots started spring 2005 • business and consumers have more ”broadband” and BROADBAND access modes to choose from • region network does no kill the competition. It increases competition as the network is OPEN • Keeping people living in the area and maybe getting someone to move to this area • Quality of living

  20. 6net+ core network

  21. Problems to be solved • offer - studing • disambling old connections (data/voice) • backup connections • telephone traffic challenging • maintance • pointing out cables in the ground

  22. Savings • hires, copper wires • telephone costs, several E1, CRM • Connections between communes, before 1-4Mbs now 2x1Gbs • Harmonizing municipalities tools, hardware, services 2005 core network budget 185 000€ 2003 old network/solution 300 000€
