  1. If you want to live and work in Australia for a medium length residency, (between two to four years) you should look into the TSS 482 visa option. The TSS 482 visa is a temporary work visa that allows employers to sponsor overseas workers to fill nominated skilled positions.  The TSS 482 visa offers the option of renewal and possible permanent residency for certain occupations after three years. The TSS 482 visa, allows you to live and work in Australia for the duration of the visa with your immediate family. Here is a look at the three stages of the application process which are the sponsorship stage, nomination stage and then the actual visa application. For added support and information consider using a migration agent Sydney.

  2. Sponsorship process for the TSS 482 visa - Businesses that want to sponsor a worker must first apply and be approved as a sponsor. In order to be approved as a sponsor the business must be actively and lawfully operating (either in or outside Australia), Australian businesses must commit to employing local labour when possible and have non-discriminatory recruitment practices, they must also have a good reputation and comply with their sponsorship obligations for the duration of their sponsorship. Sponsorships for start-up and overseas businesses are generally valid for 18 months and 5 years for established businesses in Australia. The business can sponsor overseas workers for the duration of their sponsorship.

  3. Nomination process for the TSS 482 visa - The position the sponsor is filling must be from one of the accepted occupations, from the relevant Skilled Occupations List. The position must be genuine, full time and the yearly income should not be less than $53,900 and the worker must be paid the market rate for the role. The employment terms and conditions must be equal to those offered to Australian workers and the business needs to contribute to the Skilling Australians Fund (SAF) levy per nominated worker each year. Applying for the 482 visa - Visa applicants have to meet certain criteria. These include having the right skills and qualifications for the position, having two years of relevant employment experience, having a certain level of English, though there are some exemptions and meeting necessary licensing or registration requirements. They also need to meet certain health and character criteria and maintain health insurance for the duration of their visa.

  4. How long the TSS visa process takes - With an experienced migration agent Sydney, helping you the process should be relatively easy. Once the visa application has been lodged it can take between 5 to 10 weeks to be processed.
