  1. Aligning Data Reporting and Assessment Planning Looking ahead to 2015-16 Timothy S. Brophy, Director, Institutional Assessment Academic Assessment Committee March 11, 2014

  2. The issues • SLO and PG data is reported on the second Friday in October for the previous academic year • Assessment Plans for the following academic year are not due until April of the current academic year • The IDEAL: Faculty connect their data reporting with assessment planning • The challenge: There is a 6-month gap between the data reporting for a particular academic year and the development of the AAP for the next academic year • An additional complication: previous year reporting and planning for the following year take place during the current academic year

  3. Here is how it “looks” APRIL Academic Assessment Plans are due for the following year CURRENT YEAR Assessment Plan was approved the previous April, data collected for the current year is reported in October of the next AY OCTOBER SLO and PG data is reported for the previous year

  4. A proposed solution OCTOBER: Report data for previous Academic Year and develop Assessment Plan for the following Academic Year OCTOBER SLO and PG data is reported for the previous year APRIL Academic Assessment Plans are due for the following year Example: October 10, 2014 2013-14 data is due in CA! 2015-16 AAPs would be due 2015-16 changes would be based on the 2013-14 data analysis

  5. Advantages • This connects clearly the data reporting/analysis and Academic Assessment Planning process by placing them in the same time frame • Requires faculty and SACS Coordinator attention once per year (usually) • Faculty can still alter SLOs, PGs, and other assessment components through April 1 of each year in time for catalog updates for the following year
