  1. Tencarva Biennial Meeting 2012 Seepex Success Story Presented by Ben Stolt Sales Engineer Chattanooga, TN

  2. Our Competition’s Way

  3. Progressive Cavity Pumps • Comprised of a single helical rotor

  4. Progressive Cavity Pumps • And a double helical stator

  5. Progressive Cavity Pumps • Put rotor inside the stator and you have created a cavity.

  6. Progressive Cavity Pumps • Animation, (If it works)

  7. The Application • 4 pumps needed for a drum filling application • Pumping Rubber Cement at different viscosities (3,000/2,000/7,000/45,000 cps) at ambient temperature • Pump to be located under mixing tank with 5ft of head to start, ultimately pumping the tank empty • Electric Pump requested • 10-12gpm @ 50psig • Pumps will be cleaned with solvents when not in use • Customer prefers gear pump

  8. The Competition • Viking Mag-Drive Gear Pump

  9. Mag-Drive Gear Pump Disadvantages • Close tolerance product lubricated bushing (heat issues with pumpage? cleaning issues?) • Gear pumps are high shear (product quality?) • Progressive Cavity is the pump for viscous non-oil products (can pump Peanut Butter!) • Cleaning out issues with solvent (lack of lubrication between rotor and idler? dead spots?)

  10. The Solution • Seepex Progressive Cavity Pump • (3) BN10-6L for lower viscosity pumps • (1) BTQ17-6L for higher viscosity pump

  11. The Solution • Seepex Pumps in 316SS with Viton Stator • Pumps driven very slow 100 rpm on thinner fluids, 60 rpm on thicker fluid • Nord Close-Coupled Gear reducer • Low Shear, Joint Sleeves • Disadvantage: Packing or Seal? • Packing • Easy to change • Low stuffing box pressure, thick product little leakage • May leak

  12. The Result • Competition was $3600 less than Seepex • Benefits out weighed the cost • $30,000 order at 28% Margin! • 2+ years no failures • Customer’s sister company in Europe is looking to utilize same pumps

  13. The Tencarva Way

  14. The End Go Irish!
