  1. Storytelling has been around since the beginning of time.  It was a way to preserve thoughts, ideas, morals as well as hand down historical events. Eventually these events and thoughts were put into a written format. Today, technology has allowed us to put a new twist on our thoughts, ideas, writing and storytelling. It allows us to enhance our writing with pictures and music.  ~ The Bluegrass Writing Project

Getting to know you • Classroom teachers, technology, media specialists, administration • Pre-school, elementary, middle school, high school, P/K – 12, college • Average classroom in your building/district: One, Two, Few, ? Computers • Have at least one fairly new, well equiped computer available to you?

  7. Getting to know you • Made a video? • Used video editing software to make a video? • Made a digital story? • Scared to death to try digital storytelling or working with video? • Overwhelmed and wondering how to ever get this going?

  12. Getting Started • Get comfortable with the equipment and software • ONLY ONE WAY TO DO THIS! • Use it • Go back after this conference and put your knowledge to use IMMEDIATELY!!!

Getting Started • Set a goal to work with one project a week until it gets comfortable. • Don’t be afraid to ask for HELP! • Who ya gonna call? • Technology Resource Teacher • School Technology Coordinator • Building Technology Guru • Colleague and friends • Students • Your boss, specialists, etc.

  14. Getting Started • Teach a student how to use it! • Have a student teach another student how to use it and watch. • Teach a colleague how to use it! • Who learns the MOST? The Teacher!!! • Use it – set a goal! • Use it or lose it! • Start simple!!!!
