  2. Introduction What has 8 legs, pinchers and sucks blood? Ticks! Ticks are cool! They are really interesting too! Read this story to find more information.

  3. What does the tick look like? • Did you know that some ticks can be longer than 3 cm long. • They can be seen at night. • They have no wings. • They are arachnids.

  4. What is the tick habitat • The tick species was brought into the U.S.A from Africa. • Ticks are found in every state in the U.S.A • They live in the cold places too.

  5. What does the tick eat and how does it hunt • A male tick has a scutum. It’s a hard piece of their abdomen. This limits how much it can expand. • Females drink more blood than males. • Soft ticks are able to complete a meal in as little as 2 minutes. On the other hand hard ticks may feed for up to 72 hours.

  6. All about tick babies. • When they are babies they don’t have 8 legs yet. • Black legged ticks take 2 years to complete its life cycle.

  7. Fun facts • They hibernate. • They are really tiny.
