How does the Distributive Property Work? • You can use the Distributive Property to simplify the product of a number and a sum or the product of a number and a difference. 3 (x + 2) = (x + 2) + (x + 2) + (x + 2) = (x + x + x) + (2 + 2 + 2) = 3x + 3(2)
Term • A number, a variable, or the product of a number and one or more variables. A A • X 2AB

Coefficient • A numerical factor of a term 2x 2 is the coefficient
Like Terms • Terms with the same variable factor -2ab and 4ab xyz and yzx
