  3. Reading Olympics Invitation Who? Every student at BMS What? Participate in 1 month of Olympic Reading Events When? February 10th- March 10th Where? Home, School, Car…Anywhere!! Why? I will be reading anyway, so why not read and earn a medal at the same time?

Frequently asked questions from Olympic Readers… How do I participate in the Reading Olympics? -Examine the ORM (Olympic Reading Menu) -Choose the Reading Olympic Event(s) you are the most interested in. -READ, READ, READ!!!!!!!!!! -Take the SRC Test that corresponds with your book. -Print out your certificate.

  5. Frequently asked questions from Olympic Readers… *How do I participate in the Reading Olympics? -Write the title of the book on the top of the certificate. -Have your ORM signed by your teacher or Mrs. Plemmons. -Put your certificate of achievement in your Olympic Reading Folder.

Frequently asked questions from Olympic Readers… How can I ensure that my reading will qualify and that I will earn my medal(s)? -Olympic Readers Mustread appropriate genres identified in each particular event. -Olympic Readers Must read books that are within their lexile range. -Olympic Readers Must take the SRC test that accompanies their book.

Frequently asked questions from Olympic Readers… • What will Olympic Readers who accomplish their reading goals receive? - Olympic Readers will accomplish their SRC Reading Goal in half the time of those who do not participate. - Olympic Readers will be recognized in front of the entire school at a Reading Olympics Ceremony. - Olympic Readers will go out to breakfast, “The Breakfast of Champions!”

  9. Frequently asked questions from Olympic Readers… • Who will earn a Gold Medal? -All Olympic Readers who successfully complete their event, correct genres included, will earn a gold medal. Gold medalists will not only earn SRC credit, but they will be recognized at the Olympic Reading Ceremony and attend “The Breakfast of Champions” as well. 1) Read required number of books 2) Test and pass SRC tests 3) Print out certificates 4) File certificate in the library 5) Have teacher signature for completion of event.

Frequently asked questions from Olympic Readers… • Who will earn a Silver Medal? -All Olympic Readers who reach at least half of their goal and read the required genres within their event will earn a silver medal. These readers will receive reading credit towards their SRC goal and will be recognized at the Olympic Reading Celebration. 1) Read half of the books 2) Test and pass SRC tests 3) Print out certificates 4) File certificate in the library 5) Have teacher signature for completion of event.
