  2. If a manufacturer makes a product using the progressive stamping process, the process follows a unique path. For example, several dies need to be made first in order to create the shape of the die itself. These dies are made by melting metal on either end of an anvil, allowing it to cool, pressing it into shape and removing it from the tool. Each of these dies is given a serial number so that they can be kept in order by their place of production and date of manufacture. They are then lined up together on one side while they wait their turn to be used again and again.

It is a process in which metal dies are used to produce precision parts by machining out the exact shape. The metal dies can be either made of steel or die cast. They are usually made of steel and have at least three or four layers of sheet metal on them. The parts that are being produced by this method usually have complex shapes such as wheels or cylinders.
