The Reroute Data Exchange service, part of the Traffic Flow Management (TFM) system, facilitates the development of aircraft reroutes in response to potential airspace congestion caused by severe weather, facility outages, special events, or emergencies in the National Airspace System (NAS). This collaborative decision-making (CDM) program allows Traffic Managers to efficiently communicate reroutes to Air Traffic Controllers for pre-departure flights, considering NAS customer preferences. Rerouting information will be exchanged seamlessly, ensuring timely updates and improved air traffic management.

Reroute Advisory Tool Display TFM: Reroute Data Exchange Traffic Flow Management (TFM), through its Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) programs, facilitates development of aircraft reroutes when necessary because of predicted airspace congestion due to severe weather, facility outages, special events, or emergencies in the NAS. The new Reroute Data Exchange service will provide the means for Traffic Managers to efficiently convey reroutes to Air Traffic Controllers for pre-departure flights taking into account NAS Customer preferences, as applicable. This will be achieved via exchange of pre-departure rerouting information between TFM and En Route domains, once a flight plan has been filed with the En Route domain. These flight plan amendments will be transmitted from TFMS to the En Route automation. The subsequent flight plan update will be shared system-wide by an En Route flight update service, also being developed in SWIM Segment 1.
