  1. General Art PBL Adventures of the traveling jeans

  2. PBL: problem based learningassignment that students will complete on Fridays in class, at home or after school throughout the semester. There will be a midway checkpoint in October/March and then a final grade in December/May. This is our largest project worth 450 points so staying on top of it is key to success! • Students are not encouraged to purchase anything for these assignments but to use found objects they may have at their home or find in my classroom! WHAT IS A PBL?!

  3. Traveling Art has become a more recent trend in the art world. Sketchbooks, recipes ,illustrations, jackets and now jeans are part of the collection of items being exchanged for others to leave their mark on. Students will be participating with other schools to create unique articles of clothing that the artist and the recipient will both enjoy! What are traveling jeans?!

  4. Students will investigate an artist in depth and show depictions of visual knowledge of the audience with some limitations (jeans and the journal) • You should not need to purchase anything! • Students may use a variety of supplies that include but are not limited to: • Pair of old Jeans Pencils • Paints Glue • Found Objects Scissors • Glue Scrap paper • Ribbon Cloth • You name it you can use it! Purpose and Supplies:

  5. Logical Order of Events for this Assignment: • Student will decorate and write in their journal about themselves • Students will receive another peers journal and jeans to write and decorate in/on • Students will use at home and teacher supplies to complete the sections. • Sketch out all designs before jumping in, remember this is someone else's!!! Steps for a successful project:

  6. Anything inappropriate (bullying, cusswords, tagging, sexual harassment, etc) in these journals or on the jeans will result in me having to call administration and being removed from the project. • Professional artists will be seeing these journals/jeans too so please represent yourselves well! • No one should feel uncomfortable with this assignment during any part of it. • We are here to have fun and take a piece of art home with us. Shouldn’t have to say it but I will

  7. How to get an A+ • Take your time • Plan the project out first • People are depending on you, if you slack off, you will spend time with me after school to get caught up • Don’t put this project off, I will be checking on you! • If you need help, come in or just ask me! I am much more helpful during the semester than 2 days before it is due! How I am grading

  8. Students are expected to have completed at least 3- 5 students in the class, as well as journal entries. Midway Point Checkwhat needs to be completed:

  9. Final Check: Student must complete 8-10 sections of Jeans and have 8-10 journal entries for the recipients Final Check:What I am looking for

  10. Have FUN!!!
