  2. Getting Started With The Start Menu • The start button located on left bottom side of the desktop. It includes all of your computer’s programs, data, files, and folders. • When you open the start button, there will be programs on the left side and file and folders on the right side.

  3. Customizing The Start Menu • You can customize links, icons, behaviours and how it looks like on the start menu. • You can also right click on the files from the desktop and press pin to start menu, right now your file or folder the start menu.

  4. Creating shortcuts • A shortcut is a picture which is linked to a program, file or folder. • A shortcut can be created by clicking right button and pressing create shortcut.

  5. Using The Taskbar • When a certain kind of program is running, it appears on the taskbar. You can minimize the program by clicking it on the taskbar. • On the far bottom right side on your desktop you can see the date and time and the status icon. • The program buttons can be added onto the taskbar, by default there’s internet explorer and media player.

  6. Managing Multiple Windows • When you are working on multiple programs, there will be multiple windows on the desktop. • Press Tab button to switch between programs on the windows taskbar or press alt+tab. • When you open multiple files on the same program, it will appear on the taskbar which display an icon of all opening file on the same programs. • You can cascade windows if you want to arrange them by right clicking on the empty taskbar.

  7. How To Customize The Taskbar • The taskbar can be customized by right clicking on the empty space of taskbar and the unclick lock taskbar. • If you want to remove a certain program from the taskbar, you right click on its icon, then click unpin this program from taskbar.

  8. Working With The Gadgets • Gadgets perform different tasks, like showing date and time. You can customize gadgets by right clicking on gadgets on desktop. • You can open a gadget by left clicking it twice, you can close it by hitting the close button.

  9. How To Switch Users • If there are more people using on the same computer, you might need more user accounts. You can switch users by clicking shutdown and choose switch users. • Different user will have different settings.
