  5. Richard III • one of Shakespeare's earliest plays (1591) • shows the king as a cruel tyrant, who does many evil acts before he is defeated in battle and killed by Henry Tudor

  6. Henry V • written in 1599 • focuses on events immediately before and after the Battle of Agincourt (1415) during the Hundred Years' War • Shakespeare presents Henry V as the ideal Christian monarch
