In the News • The new curriculum is coming and will be statutory for schools that are not academies or free schools • In 2014, SATs may be based on National Curriculum levels for the last time due to the introduction of the new curriculum. • A new assessment system will be needed for years 1 to 6. This may be based on the model seen in the EYFS with children judged to be “emerging, at expected or exceeding expected levels. • The expectations for GPS (SPaG) can already be seen in the draft NC. • The outcomes of the spelling, punctuation and grammar test will be included in RaiseOnline. • A new inspection framework is expected for the autumn term. This is likely to be a tweaking of the current framework rather than a rewrite. • The expectation for all subject leaders to contribute towards the development of reading, writing and maths will continue.
