  1. TEACHER MENTORSHIP PROGRAM Supported by the Langley School District and the Langley Teachers’ Association.

Why? • Promotes the professional and personal well-being of beginning teachers. • Creates a positive impact on the attraction and retention of high-quality teaching staff. • Provides experienced teachers with opportunities for professional growth and leadership. • To ensure high-quality teaching, improved student achievement, and staff well-being.

  3. Who? Mentee Mentor Teacher with more than five years experience Willing to work with a less experienced colleague as a consultant, collaborator, coach, counsellor, and confidant Recognizes that learning to be a good mentor takes time • First to fifth year teacher • Wants to access the support and knowledge of a more experienced teacher

  4. The Plan • Deadline for mentor and mentee applications is 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2013. • Mentee Session #1, Wednesday, October 2, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. • Mentor Session #1, Wednesday, October 9, 1:00 – 5:30 p.m. (to be joined by mentees at 3:45 p.m.) • Communication between mentor and mentee will be ongoing on a regular basis. Some documentation will be expected. • Additional half-day training sessions will be set for January. • Mentee meetings on Wednesdays, November 6, February 12, and April 9, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. • Ongoing support from District Teacher by phone, email, and on-site visits. • Final meeting for mentors and mentees on Wednesday, May 14, 4 to 5:30 p.m. A program evaluation will be done at this time.
