  1. The ERA Steering Group on Human Resources & Mobility • The ERA SGHRM is referring to ERAC (ERAC HR?); it is focused on human resources for research, i.e. RESEARCHERS, with the aim of realising a single labour market for researchers in Europe • In general, it invites the research performing/funding organisations (RPO/RFO) within MS & AC to adopt good human resources management practices, under the assumption that this is a prerequisite for increasing attractiveness and competitiveness of the European Research Area. • In this connection, it has promoted the award of a Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HR4SR) ‘logo’ toRPO/RFO who are compliant with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers (till now, … institutions awarded in … Countries, …% in the UK). • It promotes the adoption of a European Framework for Research Careers (4 profiles: R1 First Stage Researcher (up to doctoral degree); R2 Recognised Researcher (doctoral degree holders who are not yet fully independent); R3 Established Researcher (researchers who have developed a level of independence); R4 Leading Researcher (researchers leading their research area or field), in order to increase interoperability of national research systems and seamless mobility of researchers • It promotes the widespread adoption, by doctoral degree awarding institutions, of the Principles for Innovative Doctoral Training in order to boost employability of doctoral degree holders OUTSIDE the academia, thus fertilising the whole society with a new generation of skilled workers, able to approach societal challenges with the researchers’ mentality • It produces a yearly Researchers Report, to inform the stakeholders on advances in implementing HRS4R in MS & AC • It would be interesting to consider RPO/RFO participating to JP Initiatives as a qualified ‘subsample’ to be analysed in terms of HRS4R implementation • The ‘GPC correspondent’ to the SGHRM is fulvio.esposito@miur.it
