PROJECT OVERVIEW • Goal: Bottom Five to Top Five • NM Broadband Availability • Define Service Areas and Technologies • Served, Under Served, and Not Served • Wireless, Cable, DSL, and • Identify Issues to Adoption • Socio Economic, Education, Market • Implement Steps to Increase Adoption • Survey, Training, Facility Access

  3. FUNDING: Sources • NTIA ARRA “Stimulus” Funds • Total Award: $2.4M • Federal Share: $1.9M • State Match: $500K (20% In Kind/Cash) • Grant Components • Mapping: $1.4M Federal (Two Years) • Planning: $500K Federal (Five Years)

  4. MAPPING: General Tasks • Negotiate a “Mapping Entity” Contractor • Create a New Mexico Provider List • Sign Non Disclosure Agreements (NDA) • Create Secure Data Environment • Acquire Provider Availability Data • Process, Validate, and Document • Upload to NTIA • Repeat Twice Each Year

MAPPING: General Tasks • Create a Web Presence • Illustrate Availability and Type of Technology • List Providers and Link to Business Site • Conduct Speed Test • Nearest Facility Site DATA: Customer location, technology (cable, dsl, wireless, mobile, etc.), advertised speeds, middle mile, and anchor institutions
