  3. Objective • The main objective of this lesson is get a basic understanding of ancient Egypt prior to the chapter we are about to cover • The students will watch a movie and work as a collaborative team to answer questions and present their findings to the class

  4. Materials • The Prince of Egypt Movie • Sheet of paper • Pen or pencil • An attention span

  8. The Prince of Egypt • Get into groups of 4 or 5 • Choose a role • Watch the movie quietly • Work in your group to answer the questions • Present your answers to the class

  9. Group 1- Moses • Childhood • Why did his parents give him up? • Who took him in and why is it ironic? • Who is his new brother? • What crime does he commit when he stops the beating of the slave?

  10. Group 2- Moses • What is Moses told to do by the burning bush? • What does Moses tell the Hebrews the Pharaoh can not take from them? • Where does Moses lead the Hebrews? • Why do you think Moses looks back over the sea?

  11. Group 3- Hebrews • Who are the Hebrews? • What is their position in society at the beginning of the movie? • What obstacle do they face when the Pharaoh’s army comes after them? • What is their position at the end of the movie?

  12. Group 4- Plagues • Name the plagues in the movie. • What is the reaction after each plague? • What do the Hebrews do to make sure the final plague will pass over them? • What is the result of the final plague?

  13. Group 4- Egyptians • Who is their leader at the beginning of the movie? • Who is their leader at the end? • What is their relationship with the Hebrews prior to the exodus? • What happens to their first born as a result of the final plague?

  14. Group 5- Rameses • Who is Rameses? • Describe his relationship with Moses? • How are they related? • Why does he decide to release the Hebrews? • What happens to him at the end of the movie?
