Context of BIOSIRE Project The BIOSIRE project aims to establish a shift towards bio-diesel and electric propulsion for fleets, ships and special vehicles in tourist areas in Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Croatia and Austria. BIOSIRE local actions are directed at market transformation and changing the behavior of fleet operators, tourists and residents, farmers and the potential suppliers of used cooking oils. These actions cover the full production and distribution chain. Within the project one workpackage, WP4 Transferring Implementation activities, isdedicated to exchange of experiences.

  3. BIOSIRE International Workshop objectives The International Workshops are part of task 4.1: Facilitating Cross-Initiative Cooperation on Important Common Themes. Experts are invited to share their experience and cover specific technical aspects of the workshop’s topic. Today’s workshop theme is: Technical Aspects of Biofuel Use in Fleets

Focus on: • Technical elements of Diesel engine and biodiesel • Power and fuel consumption of engines propelled by biodiesel • Strengths and weaknesses in Public Transport organising bio/alternative fuel usage • Case Studies • Helsinki City Transport and renewable diesel fuel • Different alternative fuel options and propulsion technologies in Donostia Bus
