LHC stop 31 May, 1-2 June 1/4 • Schedule for the access: • RP search: Mon 8:00 – 9:00 • Start cavern access: Mon 9:00 (except L3, Dipole and muon side) • Ramp down L3 and dipole: Mon afternoon • RP search L3: Tue 9:30 • Access into L3 starts Tue at 9:30 • No access into dipole (no requests) • Mon starting at 6:00 AM: optimization dipole and solenoid cooling: magnets stay on till end of test • Increasing cooling water temperature of +2°C and, eventually, +4°C • Consequently, the temperature inside L3-Dipole might change on Mon • Restore old settings on Mon afternoon • Detectors SHOULD stay on during the day Technical issues, planning

  6. LHC stop 31 May, 1-2 June 2/4 • Cavern interventions: • TOF, Muon TRG, EMC, TPC and SPD: see slides • EN-CV: see presentation from Pierre • Platform above SPD cooling unit (Didier) + scaffolding (Ouvaroff, Mon 9:00) • TOF crates protections (Pieter, Samuel, Fred) • Flowmeter in mixed water line (C-side) (Philippe) + modification timing of L3 water valves (Dominique + Philippe) • ACO: electronics intervention (30-40 minutes) in rack (level 4, side O). Mon as early as possible • RP (Mon 9:15): 2 water samples (TRD, SSD) + 1 C4F10 (Isabel B. + Pierre B.). The results of gamma spectrometry might not be available before Tue AM • PMD: access to the detector to investigate cooling improvement. Tue • Charles Henri + firemen: Wed PM (L3) • Borge (laser): check laser high voltage and energy output. Take some mechanical measures for future reference. About 1 hour Wed PM • PHOS (A. Vinogradov):reset LED VME crate Technical issues, planning

  7. LHC stop 31 May, 1-2 June 3/4 • Cavern interventions (cont): • Marc: confined space course: Wed PM (L3) • ASN: cleaning toilettes UX-25 (Mon PM) Technical issues, planning

  8. LHC stop 31 May, 1-2 June 4/4 • Other activities • DAQ: see slide • DCS: see slide • TE-EPC: test new setting (threshold) on L3 power converter • L3 must be ramped up/down/up on Wed PM • Installation public address system in ACR (Tue) • CV: measurements T,P inside ITS dehumidifier in CR5. Tue at 14:00 • STOP plant for ~2 hours • CV: measurements pressure and flow L3 ventilation unit. Fri 28th 10:00 • Unit might be stopped 10’ • CV: maintenance pumps PX24 (mixed-water) + various interventions • Nothing will be stopped Technical issues, planning

  9. Muon Trigger Configuration & Readout problem (Right Side) • Readout problems Right side, initially in column 1 Right (see picture of pulser evnt) • Other configuration problems (Masks, LUT) of MTR electronics Right side • => MTR right side is not operational since Friday, May 21rst • => Clock distribution Right side ? • Access to cavern • P. Dupieux, YW. Baek, Monday May 31rst, from morning on • Other access needed on Tuesday or Wednesday if problem is not fixed on Monday (+ Ch. Renard, J.L. Beney) • Access area and needs • Below Muon platform and upper gangway • No need for nacelle nor scaffoldings Technical issues, planning 9

  10. RPC MT11_OUTSIDE9: Frequent, sudden HV trips since May, 24 We suspect bad HV connection (need to check whether it is on the cable or chamber side) Access to cavern:3 people (M. Gagliardi, A.Piccotti, P. Mereu) on Monday afternoon as soon as dipole is off. Possibly, need for further access on Tuesday. Access area and needs:muon platform Outside; need scaffolding ~ 6.5 m ~ 5.5 m IP Technical issues, planning 10

  11. TOF interventions during the technical stop (31 May – 2 June) • -DC-DCs to be replaced: • SM00 – crate 02 – C side • SM05 – crate 20, 21, 22 – A/C side • SM07 – crate 28 (29 to be checked) – A side • N.B.: to replace the DC-DC in crate 28 it’s needed to move the SM. • - LV channels to be changed (into spare ones): • SM00 – crate 00 – CH01 - A side • SM02 – crate 08 – CH02 - A side • SM02 – crate 10 – CH02 – C side • SM03 – crate 12 – CH01 – A side • SM11 – crate 46 – CH01 – C side • SM13 – crate 53 – CH02 – A side • SM16 – crate 66 – CH06 - C side • - HV channel: • SM14 – M1 (neg) to be checked – A side TOTAL: 5/6 DC-DCs TOTAL: 7 LV channels Technical issues, planning

  12. TOF people involved during the intervention: • - To move SM07: 6 • Gilda Scioli • Andrea Alici • Daniele De Gruttola • Rosario Nania • Anselmo Margotti • Michele Furini • - To change the other DC-DCs: • 4 inside L3 • 1 watcher • 1 in ACR Technical issues, planning

  13. EMCAL plans • Swap an RCU+DCS board (Terry). This board started to give CDH errors at a low rate over the last weeks. It became worse recently and has been taken out the EMCal readout, disabling the readout of 1/2 of a SM (1/8 of installed EMCal acceptance). This will be a few hours work to replace and test. It's located on the A-side of EMCal. • Repair a TRU trigger unit board (Jiri) on the C-side (1 of 12 installed). This was recovered during the last access, but it didn't remain long without problems. This would similarly be an access of a few hours. Technical issues, planning

  14. TPC plans 1. Displacement of a crate from a rack to the adjacent one in the C area: • we estimate this activity will take about 4 hours; • people involved: L. Musa, A. Junique, S. Rambaut. 2. Replacement of 1 FECc in sector A00 (rp5, br B, FEC 0): • we estimate this activity will take 1/2 day • people involved: A. Junique, S. Rambaut, Y. Lesenechal. Technical issues, planning

  15. TRD plans • Access to TRD switches in I08, O08, C17,C18: • check of switch status and cabling (especially I-side switches) review space, cable length etc. for eventually moving C switches to C19. Two persons in Cavern for 1 hour • Measure LV at SM bus bars (inside L3 - sector 07, C-side) • LV readings close to acceptable minimum • Two persons in L3 for 30 min. on Wed Technical issues, planning

  16. SPD plans Monday 31/05/2010 • 9 – 12: access to the cavern + RP cooling procedure (EN-CV) • fill up the bottle with new freon (Claudio) • 14 – 18: put the plant in safe mode (STOP + lines locked) and replace the freon Tuesday 01/06/2010 • 9 – 12: get to PP4 (ASAP) to replace the filters, close and vacuum the loops • 14 – 18: ● quick leak test ● restart the plant and re-tuning of flow with new filters • 18 – onwards: restart the detector Wednesday 02/06/2010 9 – 17: Operation on the plant in case of problems, delays or fine tuning Technical issues, planning
