  3. Introduction: Evolution of Resume Sourcing • Want Ads : Mailed in Resume (2 weeks turnaround) • Fax Machine : Faxed Resume (5 days turnaround) • Internet : Email Resumes (1 hour turnaround )

  4. Internet “It’s all about Ranking” Changed everything as we know it today. • Indeed.com • Monster.com • LinkedIn.com • Careerbuilder.com • Dice.com • Google.com

Application Tracking Systems (ATS) Anytime you submit your resume to a Job Board or Corporate website: 98% is driven by an ATS An Application Tracking System will: • Index all words, Phrases or Alphanumerical terms • Ranks according to "Keywords" Search • Three or more ”Keywords" is 100% • More “Keywords” in your Resume, the higher the ranking on the page • Goal is to be “Listed” or ranked on the first page of the search

  6. ATS Traffic Cycle • You submit your Resume to Job Board (ATS) or Company website, then: • • Your Resume is indexed and compared with Keywords of the job profile set by users • • If you pass the profile, the ATS will auto forward your resume to the user’s inbox

  7. “Keywords” What are common "Keywords" a recruiter uses? A combination of: • Job titles • Skills • “Must haves” and “terms” • Locations Accounting Manager, Quickbooks , Audit, financial, Taxes, Virginia

ATS Traffic Cycle If a Corporate HR or a Recruiter searches for a “Production Manager, PMI, MS Project, BA” they: • Log on to an internal ATS or Job board  • Type 3 or 4 Keywords (more the better), hit “search” • Stop at 3rd resume or when ranking falls below 75% • Moves forward with the internal screening and interview Process on all qualified resumes All sourced resumes with notes are incorporated into the Corporate HR or Recruiter’s ATS

ATS Traffic Cycle Recruiter submits Candidate to Corporate Position: • All submitted resumes are vetted against Job Profile Keywords set by the HR or Corporate Client ATS In another words, if your submitted resume doesn't meet all the Keywords in the Job Profile you will not pass the ATS “gatekeeper”.  An experienced Recruiter will work with you on formatting your resume.

Resume Strategies: It’s all about “Google Ranking” Log on to Monster, search for your title and skills opportunity: • Find 2 or more job opportunities that fit your skills profile • Compare and find all common Keywords, and incorporate them into your resume • Repeat Keywords or titles with all your past opportunities • Double check spelling on Software titles • Off page Ghost out keywords and include typos?

Resume Strategies: It’s all about “Google Ranking” Linked In (The Fastest growing Social Media   “Job board” on the market today!) • Incorporate (keywords) in your profile • Update your links • Get testimonials • Join “User Groups: Post Positive Comments” • If you have a job that is “public facing”, the more links you need  Example: Sales/Marketing Links (500+)

Resume Strategies: It’s all about “Google Ranking” Social Media Postings • If you are a “party animal”… Don’t show it! • Be mindful of what you “like”. • Always make positive comments about the other person and yourself. US Government has acknowledge that any personal Social Media posting meets no privacy issues.
