Important Dates/Times/Location • Sunday – May 18th • Monday – May 19th • Tuesday – May 20th • Departure from Parkland High School-track and field,(soccer) parking lot at 12:00 noon • Students should arrive by 11:15, May 18th-Check in with Mr. Christman-SMS or Ms. Haberstroh-OMS • Departure from Penn State- approximately 9:30 A.M. May 20th. Should return about 1:00-1:30 to Parkland High School track and field parking lot.

  4. Chaperone Information/Safety Concerns • There is one adult chaperone for every 5 students. • Students have regular check-in times, in person, no phone call check-ins • Curfews and rules are reviewed Sun. night at a regional meeting. • Lost keys will be charged $75 • Each student and adult wears a nametag at all times which includes their room key, meal key and keyed entry to the dorm as well as a list of names and phone numbers of their group and chaperone. • Campus security 24 hours • Medical staff, 24 hours, located in dorm area.

  7. Accommodations • Dorm rooms, girls in one building, boys in another. • Chaperones are just a few doors away. Chaperones are on every floor with the students. • All doors are labeled including chaperone names on doors. • Rooms equipped with refrigerator and microwave. • Two students per room. • Large bathroom with private showers on each floor. • An idea - Bring a sand bucket with shampoo, soap, flip flops, toothbrush, toothpaste, towel and personal items needed for shower. “Let’s peek inside the dorm….”

Activities and Shopping • Featured buildings may be available to tour. • Swimming, tennis, basketball, volleyball • Gym and pool open, special gaming events Monday evening • Shopping at the book store. • PJAS shirts and pins are available for purchase. • Snacks available at Findlay Commons- where the dining hall is located.

  11. Dinner at Penn State Three meals are provided, all you can eat with a variety of menu items for every dietary need.

  13. What to Bring? Can You Carry It? • Your project/tranparencies/flash drive • Students presenting in Willard/Sackett should have registered and need their project on a flash drive as back up. • Dress appropriately for the presentation • Casual dress, swimsuit • Cell phone if available • Towels, soap, shampoo, deodorant, hair dryer, flip flops for shower. • An alarm clock, Kindles allowed • Blanket, pillow. Money for additional snacks, video games, PJAS T-shirts, pins etc. • Any medication-please check in with Ms. Haberstroh/ Mr. Christman • Sports equipment (basketball, volleyball, tennis racket)

  15. What Not to Bring • Boom boxes, Radios • Laser pointers • Roller Blades, Skateboards • Water guns, super soakers • Alcohol, and/or illegal drugs • Any item that may cause injury to you or others. • No movies, DVD players, laptop computers

  16. Overview of Schedule • Sunday- Unpack and attend meetings. Students receive badges, and booklets of information. Find building and room locations. Mandatory meeting Sunday night for all participants. • Monday: • High School Students-morning presentations, lunch, “free” time. • Middle School Students- Possible campus tours, lunch, afternoon presentations • Monday afternoon/evening, Awards Ceremonies, Pool and Gym, Games • Tuesday – Check out and travel home.

  17. For Students with the One Day Package • Check into Findlay Commons at the information booth. Opens 7:00 AM • Park at the East Parking Deck on Bigler Road

  18. Rules and Regulations • No running, throwing or horseplay. • Females are not allowed in male dorms and vice versa. • Students must wear name tags at all times. • All students must observe curfews and must be quiet after lights out. • Check in with chaperone (IN PERSON) at established, regular times. • Return your key to your chaperone in your brown key envelope.

  19. Health Issues • All health information has been received. Any personal issues, please meet with us after this session to discuss. • Any medication needed, please package with name, phone number, school name and teacher sponsor.
