  1. Ag Stock Watering TankUES Measure Update Regional Technical Forum April 16, 2013

  2. Ag Stock Watering Tank Measure Overview • Current Category: Small Saver • Current Status: Under Review • Current Sunset Date: May, 2013 • Reason for Update/Review: Response to recommendation memo; and sunset date approaching • Baseline Type: Current Practice

  3. Summary of Updates • Changes based on Recommendation Memo • Clean workbook, use latest ProCost template • Extrapolated metered site to full heating season • Used degree days as the basis for scaling the metered site savings to other heating zones • Adjust Alberta study results to NW climate temps • Other Changes • Removed TMY3 data and analysis since HDD is now used to scale savings between site and other heating zones • Changed zone weighting of savings to be based on 2008 Farm and Ranch Survey data for acreage of PNW farms with “other” irrigation water sources* • Averaged data from Oregon Trail Electric (OTE) and Prairie Agriculture & Machinery Institute (PAMI) based on new data available * Indicates remaining issue to be discussed with RTF

  4. Remaining Issues for RTF Discussion • Recommendation memo items not completed • Note size of tank used in original study • Contacted Steve Schauer at OTE but no recollection of size • Investigate sizes of tanks sold and how they compare with the tanks used in metering studies • No sales data available; very few utilities provide incentives • Steve Schauer stated most are small (<10 gallons) • Online retail search found two main sizes (8 and 14 gallon)

  5. Remaining Issues for RTF Discussion • See SavingsData&Analysis Tab in workbook • Weighting for zones • Based on council zone weights (res. population based) • Based on farm and ranch survey for “other” irrigation water uses (acreage based)

  6. Staff Proposal • Further analysis of unfulfilled recommendation memo items is not worth effort given minimal use of measure and categorization as a Small Saver. • Approve the updates to the Ag Stock Watering Tank UES measure; • Set the measure status to “Active”; and • Change the sunset date of May, 2018

  7. Decision “I _______ move to approve the updates to the Agricultural Stock Watering Tank UES measure; set the measure status to “Active”; and change the sunset date to May, 2018.”
