  1. Electronic Fundamental Resistors Voltage Regulator • Generally it’s a bad idea to step down voltage from a high voltage source to a low voltage circuit to offer power using resistors because if the components being powered require any serious current, the resistors will most likely burn up and fail.

  2. A voltage regulator is a system designed to automatically retain a constant voltage level. A voltage regulator may utilize a simple feed-forward design. It may utilize an electromechanical mechanism, or electronic components. Depending on the design, it may be utilized to regulate one or more AC or DC voltages.

  3. Electronic Resistor voltage regulators are found in devices such as computer power supplies where they help to stabilize the DC voltages utilize by the processor and other elements. In automobile alternators and central power station generator plants, voltage regulators manage the output. In an electric power distribution system, voltage regulators may be installed at a substation or along sharing lines so that all consumer receive steady voltage independent of how much power is drawn from the line.

  4. Resistors function in direct proportion to the input voltage and the output current. If we have a known input voltage of 12 volts, and a known output current of 0.3 watts, we can pick out a set of resistors that will permit our LEDs to glow bright without causing them to burn up from over-voltage. However, since they work in direct proportion to the voltage, as the voltage drops towards the end of your string of lights, you start to see the LEDs get dimmer.
