NATIONAL STRATEGY WORKS • Throughoutthecountry; • Tocombatdesertificationanderosionmoreeffectively, • Forconservationandsustainablemanagement of waterresources, • Toprovideguidanceto long-term decisions and investment programsandforcoordination of the efforts carried out by different organizations; • NationalWatershed Management StrategyDocumentandCombatingDesertificationNationalStrategyDocumentwereprepared.

  9. PREPARED COMBATING EROSION ACTION PLAN • 5-year Action Plan forCombating Erosioncovering2013-2017wasprepared. • Combatingerosionworkswill be conducted in 1,4 millionhectaresof land.

  10. UPPER WATERSHED FLOOD CONTROL ACTION PLAN • “UpperWatershedFlood Control Action Plan” covering2013 – 2017 wasprepared. • Withtheaim of combatingfloodsandoverflows, workswill be done in 25 majorriverwatershed, 227 priorityfloodwatershed,4.155.000 hectares of landoverall.

  11. DAM WATERSHEDS GREENBELT AFFORESTATION ACTION PLAN “Dam Watersheds Greenbelt Afforestation Action Plan” covering2013 – 2017 wasprepared. Withinthescope of the Plan, worksto be conducted in 400 of total 1071 dam andponds is decidedforthenextfiveyears.

  12. BUILDING FORESTS RESILIENT TO CLIMATE CHANGE We are building Forests Resilientto Climate Change. “Guidelines for Building Landscapes Resilient to Global Changes in Dry Lands” wasprepared.

  13. MODEL PROJECTS IN COMBATING DESERTIFICATION InKonya ClosedWatershedandIğdır-AralıkWindErosionPrevention Project and model implementationsare in progress. Konya Iğdır-Aralık

INTERNATIONAL TRAININGS • Everyyearin ourcountry, nearly 100 expertsfromBalkans, theCaucasus, Central Asia, Africaandneighboringcountriesaretrained in combatingdesertificationanderosion. • Çabuk Project • Withinthescope of “Training and Technical Cooperation Project on Combating Desertification, Land Degradation, Drought (DLDD) and Forestry for African Countries”trainingsarebeingheld. 30 expertsfrom 16 countries of TurkicRepublics, Middle East andAfricaweretrained in “Meteorology, SandandDustStorm, CombatingDesertificationandErosion”.

  15. ÇABUK-NIGER PROJECT Withinthescope of ÇABUK-Niger Project Turkey-NigerFriendshipForestwasestablished. Withinthe scope of his Africa trip, His Excellency Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN visitedthefriendshipforeston 09 January2013 andplantedseedlings.

  16. COMBATING DESERTIFICATION GLOBALLY WE BELIEVE THAT A «FOREST FUND» SHOULD BE CREATED ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS AND EXPECT YOUR SUPPORT ON THIS ISSUE IN THE 10th SESSION OF UNFF.
