  5. Tetrad analysis

  6. Ordered tetrad analysis:mapping the centromere

  7. Example problem: A cross was made between two Neurospora strains: strain 1 was genotype A, strain 2 was genotype a. The following numbers of tetrads were produced: Tetrad Number AAaa 36 aaAA 44 AaAa 4 aAaA 6 AaaA 3 aAAa 7 What is the distance from the A gene to the centromere?

  8. Diagram the meiosis that produced the AAaa tetrad Diagram the meiosis that produced the AaaA tetrad

  9. An cross in Neurospora between a parent of genotype D and a parent of genotype d produced the following ordered tetrads. Which one(s) represent(s) first division segregation? 1. D D dd 2. D d D d 3. D dd D 4. dd D D 5. 1 and 3 6. 2 and 3 ✓ 7. 1 and 4

  10. Unordered tetrad analysis:linkage and mapping

  11. Example problem: A cross was made between two Chlamydomonas strains: strain 1 was genotype AB, strain 2 was genotype ab. The following numbers of tetrads were produced: Tetrad 1Tetrad 2Tetrad 3Tetrad 4Tetrad 5Tetrad 6 AB AB aBababab AB abaBaB AB Ab ab AB AbAbAbaB ababAb AB aB AB__ 38 5 6 17 2 3 1. Which tetrads represent the parental ditypes (PD), nonparentalditypes (NPD), and the tetratypes (TT)?
