  5. SOCIO-ECO ACHIEVEMENTS2004 • Services growth rate: 8.2% • Export value jumped over US$26 billion (increased 29%) • Import of goods and services up by 23.2% (US$30 billion)

  6. SOCIO-ECO ACHIEVEMENTS2004 • Social investment rate over GDP: 36.2% • State budget revenue over GDP: 24% • Consumer price index: 9.5% • Birth rate decreasing: 0.037%

  7. SOCIO-ECO ACHIEVEMENTS2004 • Vietnam – a “shining point” in Asia • Foreign investment reached highest ever in the past 7 years at US$4.2 billion • US$3.4 billion were committed at the CG meeting last December

  20. Capacity building for local levels • 12 training courses with 470 participants • VUFO Summer training for all 64 provinces/cities

  21. Regional workshops • Thai Nguyen city in 9/2004: 140 participants • Can Tho city in 11/2004: 136 participants

  22. Development targets for 2005 • GDP growth rate: 8.5% • Food production: 40 million tonnes • Industrial production: 16% more than 2004

  23. Development targets for 2005 • Reducing poverty rate to below 7% • Reducing rate of under-five malnourished children to 25% • New jobs to be created: 1.6 million
