  1. Sydney company’s continuing success!Claus awards latest Elf & Safety contract! Safe Measure Pty. Ltd. was again successful in its Elf and Safety surveys at Claus workshops!!! As many readers will recall, last year (2006) Safe Measure Pty. Ltd. was successful in its Elf and Safety audits at the Claus South Pole Workshop. This year, Safe Measure managed to not only retain the Southern Hemisphere contract, but also to win the Northern Hemisphere operations, and the coveted North Pole contract. Safe Measure’s director, Doug Wakefield, issued a statement today from the company’s Crows Nest headquarters, confirming expansion of its operations with the Claus Corporation. 2. Claus awards latest Elf & Safety contract! (Cont. from page 1) Mr. Wakefield said he was extremely pleased with the result of the current audit. A Claus & Co. spokes-elf confirmed the Safe Measure success. “We have allowed Safe Measure to not only continue its inspirational work in improving elf & safety systems at our Southern region workshops, but have brought them on board in our much larger Northern division at the North Pole. It is interesting to many of our long-term staff, that where we have traditionally used Northern European, US and Canadian firms, an Aussie firm has broken into their market.” The spokes-elf went on to comment on the rumour that Santa Claus may be disappointed in some personal findings: (Article cont. next page) www.safemeasure.com.au

  3. Claus awards latest Elf & Safety contract! (Cont. from previous page) “I should add that though Mr. Claus has undergone some scrutiny himself, especially in light of poor diet and potential to drive a sleigh under the influence and so on, there is no truth to the tale we are hearing about him curtailing Safe Measure for next year… Quite the contrary, Mr. Claus is very happy with the honesty and integrity demonstrated by the Safe Measure team, and has even emphasised there will be no coal left in any Safe Measure stockings this year!” Browse the following pages for an overview of some of the issues addressed by Safe Measure at the Claus Corporation’s Northern Division this year… (OF COURSE, MANY SIMILAR ISSUES TO LAST YEAR’S SOUTHERN DIVISION AUDITS WERE ENCOUNTERED AT THE NORTHERN WORKSHOPS. 4. Ergonomic issues… As with many workplaces, the older ‘established’ parts of the Claus operations tend have the more archaic systems. For example, Safe Measure noted the older North Pole workshops had the more ‘hands-on’ approach to manual handling, whereas the South Pole workshops used more mechanisation. HO! HO! HO!

  5. Behavioural issues… The high pressure demand of that ‘one night of the year’ takes its toll on personnel, and though Mr. Claus and his elves certainly have issues, real problems were noted in the contracted labour from time-to-time. PRODUCTION OUTPUT

  6. Some other Elf &Safety issues… PLANT NOISE HOUSEKEEPING WORK AT HEIGHT ENVIRONMENT

  7. North vs South… an Elvish problem… Summer Solstice vs Winter Solstice was a matter of timing of great import to the Elves who transferred their shifts from the North Pole to the South Pole. Excellent for production and energy saving, the South Pole’s ‘Long Day’ has, however, taken its toll on those Elves who transferred their services from the Northern Workshops. Especially affected, are those who worked through the North’s Long Day, and who were looking forward to a gentle hibernation. The Elvish Union is still in consultation with the Claus family, and a spokes-elf said the Union is ‘watching with interest’ Safe Measure’s use of techniques similar to those used in control of jet lag, and fatigue management. Watch this space!!!

  8. At the end of the day, though, yer can’t have too much fun!!!
