  1. 唐詩之分期及代表作家 唐代 (618─907)的詩主要可為四期：初唐、盛唐、中唐、晚唐。

  2. 唐詩發展的時期 • 初唐 (618─712)：高祖武德元年（西元618年）----玄宗先天元年（西元712年），約一百年。初唐是唐詩的醞釀形成時期，主要的詩人有初唐四傑 (王勃、駱賓王、盧照鄰、楊炯)、沈佺期、宋之問、陳子昂。

  3. 盛唐 (712─675)：玄宗開元元年（西元713年）----代宗永泰元年（西元765年），約五十年。盛唐時期是唐詩的黃金時代。當時出色的詩人濟濟，當中出現了兩位光耀千古的偉大詩人李白和杜甫。除李、杜外，高適、岑參、王維、孟浩然也是傑出的詩人。

  4. (三)中唐 (766─835)：代宗大曆元年（西元766年）----文宗太和元年（西元835年），約七十年。中唐的詩歌，是盛唐的延續。主要的詩人有韋應物、柳宗元、韓愈、孟郊、元稹、白居易。

  5. (四)晚唐 (836─906)：晚唐時期是唐詩由盛轉衰微的時代，多數的詩人以摹仿前人為本事，氣度不足，藝術成就不高。主要詩人有杜牧、李商隱、溫庭筠。
