  2. Early Life Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born as Michael Luther King but was soon changed to Martin. His parents were Alberta King(mom) and Michael Luther King(dad). He went to segregated schools growing up and graduated at the age 15. He received his BA degree at Morehouse College in 1948. He was soon awarded his BD in 1953. He met Coretta Scott and married her. Together they had two sons, and two daughters. He accepted the role of pastor at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in 1954.

  3. Accomplishments Martin Luther King Jr. won the Nobel Peace prize in 1964. He was the youngest man to receive the award. He also turned the money he won($54,123) to the Civil Rights Movement. Another accomplishment is that he made the speech “I Have A Dream”. This speech was given many times all around the world.

  4. His life Goals His life goal was that all people would be treated equal. He wanted colored and white people to be friends everywhere. He wanted segregation to stop also. He wanted all people to be able to go anywhere they wanted too at any time.

  5. Death Martin Luther King Jr. died on April 4th, 1968. He was standing on his balcony when he was assassinated. He died at the Lorraine motel in Memphis, Tennessee. James Earl Ray was sentenced to 99 years in Tennessee state prison. His funeral was held o n April 9th, 1968. On May 5th, 1977, his 23-acre land was turned into a national landmark.

Greatest contribution Marin Luther King Jr. Made a great contribution’s to our society by ending segregation on buses, bringing peace between colored and white people, and changing the way people look at the world. He didn’t just stop segregation on buses, he stopped it everywhere. He wanted everyone to have equal rights to places like restaurants, buses, and even a equal amount of education.
