GOALS • BILINGUALISM & BILITERACY • Develop high levels of proficiency in first language and in a second language • ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT • Perform at or above grade level in two languages • MULTICULTURALISM • Demonstrate positive cross-cultural attitudes and behaviors and high levels of self-esteem

  3. Benefits of Bilingualism and Biliteracy Learn two languages. Job opportunities. Appreciation of other cultures and languages. Preparation for college.

  4. Seal of Biliteracy Award Requirements

  5. Successfully complete all graduation requirements with overall GPA of 2.5 AND one of the following requirements:

  6. Course work • Successful completion of FOUR years in the same world language and a minimum grade of “B” for both the first and second semester of the fourth year.

  7. OR

  8. Assessment • A score of “3” or better on the AP exam for world languages OR • A passing score (80%) on the WUHSD Biliteracy Competency Exam.

  10. What do you do? Submit application during Junior or Senior year. Complete requirements by your senior year.

  11. Where do you go? Expanded Horizons Office.
