WHAT IS “PRILM”?. PRILM is a mnemonic device that can be used to help remember what the 5 Themes of Geography are. Simply put, take the first letter of each Theme to create the word PRILM. They are: P lace R egion I nteraction (Human-Environment) L ocation M ovement.

  1. WHAT IS “PRILM”? PRILM is a mnemonic device that can be used to help remember what the 5 Themes of Geography are. Simply put, take the first letter of each Theme to create the word PRILM. They are: • Place • Region • Interaction (Human-Environment) • Location • Movement

  3. Theme 1: PlaceHuman Characteristics • People • Culture • Language • Religion • Buildings and Landmarks • Cities

  13. Relative Location • Where a place is in relation to another place • Uses directional words to describe • Cardinal and intermediate directions

  14. LOCATION: • Absolute= an exact spot: latitude & longitude • Relative=a place in relation to another place: east, west, north, south
