Language Arts with Mrs. Brady • GRADING: • Reading/Comprehension 60% • Vocabulary, Writing, and Grammar 40% • HOMEWORK: • Weekly Language (one column per day) • IXL (one skill per night) • SSYRA Book (Quiztar) • AR • ADDITIONAL MATERIAL USED: • Scholastic Story Works • Jamestown Critical Reading Series • Flocabulary • Novel Studies in class

Social Studies with Mrs. Brady • GRADING: • Assessments 60% • Classwork 40% • MATERIALS USED: • DBQ’s (Data Based Questioning) • Project Based Learning • Historical fiction novels and biographies related to Florida history. • Most of essay writing will relate to Social Studies curriculum. • Scholastic News

Mathematics with Mrs. Link • Grades • Assessments 50% • Quiz / Classwork 40% • Fluency/Homework 10% • Homework • One column per night– Home on Mondays, Due Fridays – Keep in Blue Folder, Please check it Thursday nights • Check Planner nightly • Need additional practice? Complete the “Practice Buddy” through the online textbook; 1 per lesson • Websites Used • Reflex Math – Math fact practice • iXLencouraged for extra credit • District online textbooks – Practice Buddy/Additional Practice pages (printable) • Prodigy Math

ClassDojo • Points: • Once the student reaches 10 points they can choose from the treasure box. • Messaging: • I can send out messages to the whole class but when you respond Mrs. Link and Mrs. Brady are the only ones to see that. • Class Story: • We want you to be involved and know you have busy schedules, so we will take pictures of memorable moment and post here. • Only parents and us can see the pictures they are not public. • Portfolio: • Here we can have you complete home learning projects. • Post homework • Create Message boards to share ideas.

  8. iReady • Reading and Math • Adaptive (at their level) • 2 lessons per week • Helps differentiate instruction • Only at school • Diagnostic tests – beginning, middle and end of year

  9. FSA – Florida Standards Assessment • Reading – 2 sessions • Math – 2 sessions • Writing - 1 session • Tentatively Writing is scheduled for April, Math & Reading in May – we will let you know • Paper and pencil • Check out the FSA Portal for more info from the state. • www.fsassessments.org

Field Trips • Two on campus • Jimmy Sawgrass & WaterVentures • Two off campus • Tree Hill Nature Center & Beaches Museum *Any person coming into the school building or chaperoning a field trip must be a registered volunteer and fill out the school access form. https://stjohns.keepntrack.com/apply/

  12. Conferences • Parent/Teacher Conferences will begin September 10th. • You can sign up through Sign-Up Genius. We will send the email this week. • Conferences held with homeroom teacher, notes are taken for switch teacher and contact if needed. • Beginning and end of year
