  1. 1. How can I connect my HP Officejet 4500 to my computer? Before you can start printing and scanning using your HP Officejet 4500 wirelessly, you need to connect the printer to the network and install the software on the computer. The following steps will help you to setup your printer and start printing documents wirelessly. Setup instructions for Windows. Setting it up. Before you could setup your printer and connect it to the network to start printing wirelessly, you need to note down the network name and password. Once you have that in hand, turn on your router, printer and your computer. The network name is also called as the SSID and the password may either be the WEP key or WPA key. Connect your computer to the wireless network and make sure your router is connected to provide internet access. Turn ON all the devices and make sure the computer is connected to the network to which you want connect your printer to. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer, if there is any connected to it and if you have the USB software installed on your printer,you will have to uninstall it. You can do that by, On your computer, search for your printer name and from the search results, select your printer. Select Utilities and then Printer setup and software selection. After that, select Convert a USB connected printer to wireless or Connect a new printer. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the setup. Connecting the printer to the network. For this you will have to use the built-in setup wizard to connect your printer to the wireless network. Click on the setup button on your printer’s control panel. Using the arrow keys, go to Wireless menu and click OK After that, go to Setup wizard and click on OK. The setup wizard would check for available networks and returns a search result. Select your network name to connect to that network and press OK. Enter the password if required and click OK. The printer must now connect to the network. Downloading the printer software. To the install the printer software, you will need to Turn on the printer and check if the printer is connected to the computer via a USB cable. If yes, disconnect it. Then go to *link* to download the printer software. Select the printer model and select the full feature driver option and follow the instructions on the screen to finish the downloading process. Unlike Windows you don't have to download the driver software from Apple’s website or a third party link, it is directly available through the operating system. You will need to Click on the Apple menu and click on Software update.This checks for any available software updates and updates the database which is important to find the required printer software. From the search results select one and click install. After that, turn on the printer and make sure it has paper loaded in it. Then click on the Apple menu and go to System Preferences. Select Printers and scanners and click on the + sign on the left corner. Select Add printer or Scanner for the available list of printers. Select the name of your printer from the list and make sure its type is Bonjour or Bonjour Multifunction. Select the Use box and click on the name of your printer from the drop down menu and click Add printer to the queue. If a prompt screen appears urging you to install any software, click on Install and restart any application that was open before adding the printer.
